Love "sweet" Love

Valentines day truly was a "sweet" occasion in our house, as I am sure it was for many of you as well. We've never really had a good plan for Valentines day as my Birthday is the day before and it's not really fun to spend lots of money and celebrate two days in a row. Long ago we decided that we would go out for my birthday (the resturants are never crowded!) and then stay home on Valentines day and babysit for other people who would like to go out.

This year when I asked Josh who he wanted to babysit for he said "I don't think we need to do that anymore"...I guess having a baby around all of the time makes him value his quiet time a little more...too bad.

So we decided that from here on out we would just make Valentines day a fun family affair by having "red food day". This year we really just limited it to dinner, but I've already thought of a world of posibilities for other meals too.

Menu
1.Pizza (red sauce)
2.Fruit Punch, pink lemonade, milk turned pink
3.Red Velvet Cake
I actually decided to try this after reading one of a friends blogs about this fun red cake. I made it from scratch and it turned out pretty good. A tad on the dry side, but really not bad. We're going to make the cake every year...when else do you get to eat cake that is really red? It was fun!

I'm so glad we got the last of your free V-day babysitting last year! Thanks again.
I planned on emailing you all day on Wed for your birthday and kept getting sidetracked. I hope it was a great birthday. I'm sure it's all a little sweeter now that Emily is around.

Happy Birthday! Hope you had a great one. We actually had a date and dinner last night - woohoo. We are trying to come up for the MarVista V-day karaoke tomorrow! Hope we make it and get to see you.
