Part of our Family

Meet Baby. Emily began attaching to this little lovey by the time she was around 3-4months old. I was glad at the time because it seemed to help her fall asleep more easily and put herself back to sleep on her own. In the beginning she was only a nap/bedtime friend. Now, if Emily doesn't manage to pull her out of bed with her in the morning, or if she can't reach her through the crib slats, she will stand at the crib and whine until Baby comes out. Truth be told we own 5 Baby's. This allows for the frequent washing required and replacements when necessary. Emily is also now old enought to understand that there is more than one Baby in the house, and since the discovery of the "Baby drawer" she has started trying to carry two or three around at a time!

Honestly, I'm not sure how I am feeling about Baby these days. Part of me says that this is a major "attachment" stage in kids lives and not to worry about, but I really hate the thought of her wanting to take Baby everywhere when she's four! Anyway maybe all of you more experienced Mom's out there have some advice....don't worry about it or start setting limits?

Don't worry about it. There will be times that it totally helps you...like nursery, shopping. Aiden has 4 Mr Hats (for washing). There are moments I don't know what we'd do without him. She will eventually grow out of it on her own. Just let her be little, it's won't last that long.

I agree with megan, don't worry about it. Elyse has her blankie that she sleeps with. She can do what she wants with it at home, although i encourage it to be left in her bed. When we leave home, the blanket stays. She seems fine with this. Having something to help them soothe themselves is so great. That blankie is the first thing she asks for if she is hurt or upset...or in trouble...:)
She's so little, I really don't see any reason to worry about it.

I'm also in agreement. Emma had her Elmo doll that she carried almost everywhere and it was "hers." No sharing that toy. I don't remember how long that lasted, but I don't think she was over three when she gave him up. Keep enjoying this stage. It goes faster than you think. :)

Aiden had that yellow blanket that you gave me. He had to have it every night, and then he just out grew it. I can't even remember when. Jenna-grace still has bunny. It gets sooo dirty. But she is starting to replace it with other baby dolls. Max is the worst. He has a blue blanky that he calls Boo Boo. He caries it around just like Linus on Charly Brown. I have been pondering the same question with him. But I only have the one blanket, and he won't take any substitutes! We lose it at least once a day. Then I spend several stressed minutes looking for it. Eric is worried about him having it too long. But I think he is adorable.

I have no advice just a similar thing. Joseph is totally attached to his two blankets. He calls them his babies. He also loves his bottle which I'm trying to wean him from. I think I'll have to go cold turkey. That's what I had to do with nursing. He gets so attached to things. I have no idea what to do.

Don't worry about it yet. I just barely weaned Lizzy (3) of her lovey. She only gets it now in her room. Emma's still a baby. Don't make her grow up too fast!

Cady has had several lovies, different stuffed animals that were her best friend for months/years. She'd have one for a long time, then it would be replaced by a newer friend, and she'd have that til it was ragged. We also bought backups just in case! I think it's cute to see a little kid with their raggedy lovie!

That is funny and gross about the wet catfood. How did Josh do on his exam?

well, if she's lugging it around when she's four, it's better than a RAG right? haha
