4th of July

For the 4th of July this year we had an afternoon BBQ with friends at our place. We had planned on swimming but our "heated" pool is still too freezing to venture into. We still had a fun time hanging out and eating homemade ice cream.

Then in the evening we headed out to the Marina where we ate dinner at El Torrito and watched the fireworks. I was a little nervous about the 3 hour wait between when we arrived at the Marina and when the fireworks would start because we had Emily and Brent with us and everyone knows that two almost 2 year olds aren't the best behaved for dinner or when staying up way past bedtime. Fortunately they were both little champs and we had a great time.

These last two pictures are of Emily riding the kids carousel. She sat on there and screamed and begged for us to make it "go round n' round" but we didn't have any quarters. Then when some nice passerby dropped a couple of quarters in the machine (probably to get the kids to stop screaming) she cried and hated it. Kind of wierd since she likes to ride regular carousels? Anyway, sometimes her sad faces just crack me up.

The final highlight of the night was Emily going potty. We've been toying with the idea of potty training lately and she likes to climb up and down of the toilet. Anyway, it was 10:30PM and we had just gotten home from the fireworks when I heard her crying from the bathroom. She had jumped up on the toilet fully dressed and wanted to sit there like she usually does. Unfortunately for her, her potty seat was not on there and she fell in. All we could see was her little head, arms, and legs sticking out of the pot. I left her in there long enough for Josh to come get a peek and a laugh, but not long enough to get the camera out. Sorry no pictures, but I wanted to remember the story.

Sounds like you guys had a good time. I was bummed we didn't have any homemade ice cream. Lucky! Emily looks so big! Her hair is getting so long!! She's becoming such a cute little girl!

I'm happy you posted, I've been wondering how you are doing.
The picture of Emily crying as she's going around the carousel made me laugh. Oh the torture!
She looks darling in her 4th of July outfit and bows.

I am glad Emily is being so great with all the activities you guys are doing lately--especially the wedding! Looks like you had a great fourth of July! One of my friends called me about two weeks ago and told me that she is expecting twins! She has two boys. Too fun. You look great Becky!
