(Josh and I at the BART station after the show)
(self portrait at the station. Not good.)
Twelve years. Twelve great years...although this last one was a little rough. Not anything serious or crazy, just a lot of change with two new babies, two moves, a surprise pregnancy, new job...etc. You've all been through similar I'm sure. I think we will really celebrate this New Year in hopes for a boring one.
We were really lucky this year because my parents watched the kids for the entire day so that Josh and I could go to San Francisco to see Wicked. We had a bit of a rough start getting stuck in randomly bad traffic, missing our BART train and getting to the show about 20 minutes after it started. Fortunately we were able to catch right up and have a nice time. Afterward we got lost in some pretty bad parts of Oakland and Berkley before finding our way back to the freeway.
On the way home we called to check and see how the kids were doing and could hear them laughing like crazy in the background with my dad. It was our first day away pretty much ever since the babies were born and after hearing all the laughter we just wanted to get home and be with all of them. However, we controlled ourselves and stopped at Buca Di Beppo in Roseville for the first leisurely dinner in almost as long as I can remember. It was wierd not having to inhale my food, or ask for a box and check as soon as they drop off the food so that we can make a quick getaway. Not to mention that not a single saltine was served to a small person in a high chair during the course of the meal. It was heavenly. I'd forgotten that Josh and I can actually be interesting sometimes. haha.
All in all it was a great night. We missed the kids, but enjoyed every minute of our day.
