Reunion Weekend

(Meredith, Me, Amber, & Jamie)

This last weekend I was able to meet up with my college roommates in Provo to attend the BYU Women's conference and had a super fun time. I really couldn't believe that it had been 11 years since we had all been in the same room at the same time!

We took this picture in front of our apartment door. We felt pretty stupid knocking on it and telling the current residents that we were some silly old ladies who needed someone to take their picture. So worth it though.

Josh and Emily flew to Utah as well and spent the weekend at his sister's house. Unfortunately (because his trip was planned so last minute) it didn't work out for them to see everyone that they wanted to, but they still had fun, and Emily Emily had a great time running around like a crazy little girl with her 3 cousins. Hopefully I'll get some pictures soon (hint hint Kiersten).

Because Josh didn't plan his trip until like the week before we weren't able to get on the same flight. His flight was scheduled to leave about an hour before mine. Although I was really excited and looking forward to taking a break and spending time with my friends it was soooo hard to leave them at the airport. The longest I'd left Emily before was a oouple of hours, and despite the fact that I knew Josh was very capable of taking care of her it still about made me change my mind.

It was really nice to attend Women's Conference. I think it was the first time since Emily was born that I have been able to sit quietly and enjoy the meetings. I feel very refreshed (but very tired) from this experiene. The best talk I went to was one given by Brad Wilcox. His talk was on the Atonement and he explained the "grace vs. works" issue in a way that I had never heard it before, and I think this was the first time I actually felt like I understood it. He has a new book out called The Continuous Atonement and I would highly recommend it to everyone. Confession: I haven't actually read the book yet, but my friend had and said that his talk came directly from it.

I can't even begin to tell you how much fun I had spending the days (and very late nights) hanging out with my dear friends. It really seemed like no time had passed. The only difference was that now instead of talking about boys we mostly talked about our kids. I guess some friendships never die. They must just go dormant, always hanging around waiting to be awoken. We decided that we need to start taking vacations together (with the fam's) every couple of years. I really hope we do it.
