Trip to the Getty

Believe it or not I have lived here for four years and this was my first trip to the Getty center. By far the best part was the grounds, I can't believe how beautiful they were...however despite their beauty I somehow didn't take any pictures. Dang.

My sister and her daughter were in town visiting for a few days and as I had heard good things about the Children's room we decided to spend the $10 for parking and go for it. I have to say that even though the kids had a good time I was pretty disappointed in the children's room. I had imagined a big hands on area (like the size of the cultural hall), but it is literally just a room. Probably no bigger than a large living room. This first picture is of Emily playing with her reflection in a mirror. I thought it was kind of a cool picture.

That being said the kids favorite part was the BED. This isn't just any bed, but a big old fashioned bed like you would imagine finding in a castle. They have a bunch of kids books up there and we just piled on and read for awhile. Very fun and relaxing.

The worst part of the visit was that there are fountains and pools all over the grounds. They are very neat to look at, you know the kind where the water is level with the ground...ie: no protective barrier. I think I will enjoy them much more when I go without Emily. She had several "throw myself on the ground and cry pathetically" tantrums while we were there because she couldn't play in the water.
