Days 7 & 8 - Idaho Family Reunion

Well Friday Morning my parents swung by Ogden and picked us up and we all went to Idaho together. Emily did pretty well in the car this time. We have a Benson family reunion (my step-mom's Mother's family) every two years in Idaho. I really don't know anyone as the family has gotten so large, but it is still really fun to go to Idaho and enjoy the out doors.

For the past few reunions we have been camping at Heise Hot springs in Idaho. It's a fun place to camp as it has a nice big pool, heated pools, a beautiful river, and a fun little shack where you can buy ice cream. It was our first camping trip with Emily and all in all it went pretty well. It was a nice place to camnp with a baby as all the campsites are nice and grassy. Perfect for my crawling baby! It was only a one-nighter and man was the weather crazy! It was nice during the day but it howled with rain and lightening over night. Thank heavens our tent kept out the wind and rain and Emily managed to sleep through the entire thing.

The best part of gettling out of Los Angeles is being able to see the stars. I got up in the middle of the night after the rain stopped to hike to the stinky potties and was treated with a beautiful view of the stars. I'd forgotten that there could be that many in the sky. I think that here in LA we are lucky to be able to see more than a handful each night. It nearly took my breath away!

One more thing...this is a picture of the two room school house where my Grandmother went to school in Idaho back in the day. Pretty cool eh?!

Wow! Looks like you guys have been having a very eventful summer! How fun. I was glad to see a picture of old faithful. My family went to yellowstone when I was about 12 and we weren't able to stay long enough to see it erupt (thanks to cranky kids).
